Packco Handling awarded a green apple recycling award at the Houses of Parliament

Brupac are adrinks packing, and distribution company with a large proportion of their waste being packaging material and once use cups, they were sending 90% of all their waste to landfill through a 32 cubic yard portable compactor disposed of weekly. The directors wanted to divert the waste away from landfill and to reduce the packaging waste with the aim of being a zero to landfill company by 2021. They also wanted to reduce the vehicle movements to save on carbon emissions by reducing the waste vehicles visiting their site.

Packco Handling were appointed as the contractor to work with Brupac to implement this recycling project, we successfully implemented a waste segregation system, by installing balers to help capture the materials at source and present the bulk of the materials in mill size bales to optimise on recycling revenue. They currently segregate their film, cardboard, PE bag and cup waste which has all been diverted away from landfill.
